Term duration 10 x weekly classes on Monday evenings, 6:15pm to 8:15pm
Level 1 Classes: This course is suitable for people with no prior knowledge of the language, who would like to use it for holiday and/or work-related purposes. By the end of the course, you will be able to formulate simple sentences in a conversational setting and understand written and spoken language at a basic level.
Key Language
Learn to write and read Pin Yin. Practice the four tones
Numbers, months and days of the week as well as greetings
Ordering drinks, asking for availability
Family members (e.g. mother, father, elder brother, younger brother, elder sister, younger sister)
Asking where people are from. Names of countries and professions
How to ask someone’s name, how to introduce yourself, and how to ask for permission
Asking for directions, looking for people, expressing gratitude and saying goodbye
Learning what to do when you don’t understand what another person has said and how to make suggestions.
