Level 4 Classes:This course suits people who have recently completed Level 3 or have acquired a level of language which means they can, for example, communicate simply about themselves , talk and write about what they do every day, and what they used to do, and can compare options (see level 3 key communicative and grammatical points for more detail). In this class, you will develop your confidence to be able to tackle more situations when abroad or speaking to a Greekperson.
In Level 4 we work at the A2 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)*.
Autumn Term duration 10 x weekly 2-hour classes, Tuesday evenings, 6:15pm to 8:15pm
Key Language
Communicative themes may cover:
Talking about health (book medical appointments, discuss common illnesses, symptomatology, body parts, follow medical advice)
Making plans while staying with a Greek host(look for activities, sightseeing, entertainment, book ticketsetc).
Going on a road trip(interacting at the petrol station, fuel, simple maintenance)
Describing weather conditions
Talking abouta significant life eventof the past (graduation, wedding, rescuing a pet etc)
Inviting friends, accepting and rejecting invitations
Discussing about the Greek culture in simple ways (historical significance, mentality, cuisineetc)
Past simple tense: e.g.Χθεςπήγα στηντράπεζα στις 9 το πρωί (Yesterday, I went to the bank at 9 in the morning)
Simpleimperativemode: e.g.Μηνέρθεις πριντις 5 το απόγευμα (Don'tcomebefore 5 in the afternoon)
Simplerelativepronouns: e.g. Η Ελένη, πουμένειστον πρώτο, είναι γιατρός (Helen, wholivesin the firstfloor, is a doctor)
Subordinate adverb clause (syntax): e.g.Θέλωνα πάωστονοδοντίατρογιατίέχωπονόδοντο(I want to go to the dentist because I have a toothache)
