Designated Prescribing Practitioner Training

Overview
This short session has been designed for those currently undertaking the role of the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP), or anyone considering becoming a DPP in the future.  

This live face-to-face or online session will be an alternative to the asynchronous training package we currently have for DPPs supporting Independent Prescribing students. 

Course Content
This 3-hour training session aims to cover the essential components of the DPP framework, strategies for supporting struggling learners, and various clinical activities to help trainees achieve the competency framework. The session will include:

An introduction and overview, followed by a detailed review of the DPP framework and its alignment with the RPS competency framework.

A segment on identifying and supporting struggling learners with tailored strategies and an interactive discussion.

A core part focusing on supporting them in their role and exploring ways for trainees to demonstrate clinical expertise beyond patient-facing clinics, such as participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical audits, and guideline development.

A concluding summary, final Q&A, and additional resources for further support.
