The MoveX Lab, located within the Norwich Medical School at the University of East Anglia in Norfolk, offers combined VO2 max and blood lactate testing service. The tests measure an individual’s maximal oxygen consumption across progressively harder exercise intensities while also assessing key blood lactate threshold levels which are essential for monitoring and improving both aerobic and anaerobic fitness.

Detailed Description

Upon purchasing this product, you will receive an email from the UEA Store confirming your purchase. This email will also include instructions on how to complete our Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ). Once the PARQ has been completed and reviewed, a member of the MoveX Lab team will contact you to arrange a test appointment and provide guidance on how to prepare for the session.

Following your visit to the MoveX Lab, you will receive a detailed report that includes your personalised VO2 max score, maximum heart rate, and heart rate training zones tailored specifically to your test results. From your blood lactate test, the report will highlight how efficient your aerobic performance is within specific heart rate training zones and identify the point at which the onset of blood lactate accumulation occurs. Reports are typically sent via email within 3–5 working days. 

Please Note: It is important to acknowledge that while participating in a both testing procedures is typically a safe and enlightening experience, it may not be suitable for everyone. Specific health and physiological criteria must be met to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the test.

You must:

·            Be aged between 18 - 64 years.

·            Have no underlying medical conditions or risk factors that would be exacerbated by participating in a VO2 Max test. This will be assessed by completing a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) and may require you to get written confirmation from your GP to say that it is safe for you to participate.

·            Be currently undertaking at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week.

·            Not be pregnant.

·            Not have a consistent resting heart rate of over a 110 bpm or blood pressure that is over 140/90 mmHg or below 90/60 mmHg.

 

If for any reason you need to reschedule your appointment, please do so by emailing [email protected]. Rescheduling is allowed without incurring a penalty if you notify the MoveExLab team more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. However, if the notification is within 24 hours, a refund will not be possible. In cases of extenuating circumstances leading to cancellation, the UEA may, at its absolute discretion, offer you the opportunity to re-book your visit.

If, by any chance, an equipment breakdown occurs, hindering us from fulfilling your appointment, you will have the option to either reschedule your visit or receive a full refund.
