Scenes From Lost Mothers

Scenes from Lost Mothers is a new play exploring the multiple challenges pregnant women and mothers face in prison. The play platforms the voices and internal lives of the many women who brought their lived experience to the research: the terrible impact of loss and separation, and their hopes, dreams and anxieties about motherhood and their babies’ futures. Raising awareness of the daily struggles endured by women and the ripple effects on their children, the show is a cry from the heart and a celebration of the vital work fighting for change. The play was developed with and is performed by women with experience of the criminal justice system, or at risk of entering it.

The play will last 30 minutes followed by a 30 minute workshop to explore the themes and issues raised.
