Level 6 Classes: This course will suit people who have recently completed Level 5 or have a solid/recent foundation in French meaning they are able to confidently communicate about themselves, their environment, past, future plans and some topics beyond their own environment. In this class, you will be given tools to justify your opinion in simple ways, such as justifying actions or plans. This level covers the second part of the B1 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*).
Term duration: 10 x weekly 2-hour classes, Thursday evenings, 6:15pm to 8:15pm.
Communicative themes may cover:
· Discussing different ways of consuming, issues and solutions
· Talking and writing about work, wellbeing and inequalities
· Understanding and being able to express oneself about specific current affairs
· Giving one’s opinion on civic duties and responsibilities.
· Reacting to different art forms and cultural items (music, paintings, films etc.)
Key grammatical points covered include:
· The subjunctive (2) – opinion. E.g. Je ne crois pas que ce soit une bonne idée.
· The past conditional. E.g. J’aurais aimé vivre dans les années 60.
· The present participle. E.g. Ayant peur de tomber malade, elle est restée chez elle.
· Choices between simple future, close future or present. E.g. Je pends mes vacances à la fin de l’année. Nous allons partir. Je verrai l’année prochaine.
· Possessive pronouns. E.g. Tu as ton parapluie ? J’ai pris le mien.
