Description

Responsibly navigating and addressing the climate emergency while keeping our sanity is a skill that all of us need to work on. We are inviting you to a one-day critical carbon literacy training by BCAN (UEA Biodiversity and Climate Action Network), dedicated to talking through the basics of the climate crisis, clearing all questions from emissions and consumption to footprints, critically exploring what has been and could be done to address the crisis, and building the resilience we need when we want to make change happen. Your participation is crucial in fostering a culture of sustainability here on campus and this goes far beyond. Half of this workshop is designed to update our knowledge about the facts on all things carbon. This base is equipping us to be literate, vocal and explore solutions. In the second half we will focus on what efforts have been made to tackle the climate crisis, and which efforts we need to make together in the future, to get us out of this. Come and join us to learn how we can empower each other to participate in making a difference!

DEV Professional Skills Workshops

The School of Global Development (DEV) offers undergraduate and postgraduate students the chance to take part in a variety of hands-on workshops designed to build the practical skills expected of today’s development professionals.

These short, intensive sessions (1–3 days) go beyond your coursework, giving you:

  • Practical, real-world skills
  • A stronger CV and enhanced employability
  • Experience that sets you apart in the job market

The workshops are optional and non-assessed, but provide a perfect opportunity to invest in your future.

Before signing up, make sure you can manage your coursework and commitments. If in doubt, talk to your course convenor for advice.

Cost

A small fee of £10 per day, per course helps cover materials, equipment, and external trainers. This also ensures that places go to genuinely committed students. This is a fraction of the cost of what these courses would cost normally.

Limited Places & Waiting List

Spaces are capped to keep workshops interactive and effective. If a course is full, you’ll be placed on a waiting list and offered a spot if one becomes available.
