This online course is aimed at health and social care practitioners working with people living with dementia and supporting shared decision making with them and their families. Key legal aspects of dementia care are used to illustrate and reinforce best practice in meeting the needs of people living with dementia.
This course will provide you with a series of interactive online learning materials to work through at your own pace at times that suit you and inlcudes a live Q&A session with the course leader. The course will take approximately 8 hours to complete, but this may vary depending on reading speed. The content will be available for you to complete for six weeks from the course start date.
This short online course examines the experience of people living with dementia through the lens of risk management – in the home, the community, the hospital and the care home - exploring the boundaries of,and tools for facilitating, positive risk taking. In support of best practice in risk management, this short course also offers an introduction to key legal aspects of dementia practice such as Mental Capacity, Safeguarding, Powers of Attorney and Liberty Protection Safeguards.
