By the end of this course, you will have acquired the relevant vocabulary to be able to understand and discuss a literary, art or film review. You will have mastered the necessary linguistic tools to write your own film review for instance. Native French speakers will be very much appreciative and enjoy exchanging their thoughts and ideas with you, which will be a source of great satisfaction for everyone.
• We aim to establish an all-inclusive atmosphere in the classroom, using a very engaging and friendly teaching style to give confidence to everyone in the group. We endeavour to make the lessons both linguistically and culturally enriching; the aim is to recreate conversations that French people would have between themselves in a café with their friends or at home with their family.
• It is assumed that you will have mastered the use and formation of many tenses, though we will revise them whenever necessary, within the cultural context covered. For instance, the past historic will be revised as it is often used in literary work pieces. Translation and interpreting skills will be taught, whenever appropriate. The subjunctive, perfect conditional, future perfect will be revised. Specific vocabulary for this Level will be taught.
• Regular feedback will be given during lessons as well as homework, though we do understand that the constraints of everyday life can make it difficult at times to do all the work set. We encourage weekly revisions of lessons as it will help you to benefit fully from the course. We will make use of different teaching approaches to make your learning experience as enjoyable as possible.
