DescriptionJoin us at the Citizens Academy Conference, 9.30am - 4.30pm on Tuesday 24 February 2026. This will be a lively, practical day with aim of helping researchers and academics to work better with communities through Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE). The event it is open to all, including UEA staff and students, local health and care organisations, community organisations, researchers, educators, and of course PPIE/service users! More InformationWe’ll start the day with a keynote from Ken Clare (Obesity Voices PPIE Hub, Leeds Beckett University, and Executive Director of the UK Coalition for People Living with Obesity), blending his own lived experience with powerful insights about how to make research more inclusive and impactful. As the event continues, expect academic and lived experience talks, interactive workshops, and networking, plus a live performance from community theatre group The Common Lot. Lunch is being provided by local community organisation The Zainab Project. We’ll finish the day with a fun Dragon’s Den-style session, where aspiring researchers will pitch their research ideas to a panel who will provide feedback. The audience votes for their favourites and the winner will be crowned.
